Alice and the white rabbit

For those looking for a cute set of 'Alice in Wonderland talking to the white rabbit' pictures, then i am sorry but you have definitely come to the wrong place!.

Far too long ago now i was approached by a regular customer and asked if the painting group that he belonged to could run a competition to paint 'Bunny Boiler Alice'. I agreed and sent over some figures for them and a few months later I got some pictures back.

Well, with one thing and another ( losing my admin assistant / getting very ill / moving house ) they have been sitting on my desktop now for a long time. Although the delays have been unavoidable i still feel very bad and have finally managed to get around to getting them online.

There are some really very nice versions of her and i am glad they finally get to see the light of day. Choosing a winner was also very hard. I would like to say many thanks to everyone for their patience with the delays and for presrnting me with such a variety of renditions of one of my favourite Hf females.

Yannick says

' Figurines_Fr is in first a french mailing list about minis. The theme is the figurine in general: historical and fantasy, 28mm to 200mm, bust or in foot. We speak about paint, sculpt, ground, inspiration. The creator of this ML is our friend Nicolas 'Taliesin'.
This ML allowed the two worlds historic and fantasy to meet themselves, with many interesting and profitable exchanges.
After some years, we create a website , more easy to put pictures, and more easy to speak with friends by the shoutbox.

For giving life the ML, we propose every three months a TEC (Tout En Couleur : All In Color): we choose a mini, and who wants paint her for a dead-line. When I saw Alice, I thought it was a good subject: very nice and fine sculpt, many different possibilities of colour, 'historical' and 'fantasy', painters could be interesting by the mini… and I wanted to show Hasslefree at everybody !

I think everybody take pleasure to paint Alice. Thanks to all painters for your participation, thank to Sally for her time and her good mood.

So with no more ado, here we go. the winners and my reasons why

First Place

With the prize of £25 worth of HF freebies, this goes to Jerome Servais. I liked how Alice is set into a background and based as if she was walking home through the forest with her kill. The freehand rabbit on the back or her dress i felt was nice as is the colours on her hair. Skintones appear nice and her dress is also nicely highlighted.

First Place!

Second Place

With the prize of £20 of HF freebies, this goes to Denis Bouvet. With this version i liked the muted skin and hair tones that contrasted nicely with the brightness of her dress....i sooo admire a girl who can wear red! I think the slightly grey tone of the skin adds to her un-nerviness. I also liked the picked out details and subtle highlights on both the gun and the rabbit.

Second Place!

Third Place

This jointly goes to Jean-Philippe Prajoux and Mickael Grandjean.

Sharing third prize of £15 worth of goodies ....(Yes i know that picking two winners isnt what is supposed to happen but i really couldnt choose) ... Jean-Philippes figure had lovely detail work and highlights as well as being on a simple but effective base. It really looks lovely. However i kept coming back to Mickael and felt they should have some credit for using the striped cheshire cat colours for her dress combined with lovely detail work and especially the blood drips on the floor.

joint third Place!

joint third Place!

Of course i cant leave it there, i feel that everyone who entered should also have their pics shown so they are all below and in random order
I know it has been a long time coming but i really do appreciate the time and work that has gone into this.

thanks lots & lots

Sally
